Editing Articles
Overview
While AutopilotSEO generates high-quality content, you might want to refine articles to match your exact requirements or add your personal touch. This guide covers how to edit and improve your generated articles.
Accessing the Article Editor
To edit an article:
- Navigate to the Articles section (
/workspace/articles
) - Find the article you want to edit
- Click on the article to open it in detail view
- Click the "Edit" button in the action bar
- The article will open in the editor interface
Note: Articles that have already been published may require special handling. If the article is already published on a connected platform, your edits in AutopilotSEO won't automatically update the published version unless you republish it.
Editor Interface
The article editor provides a rich text editing experience with:
- Formatting Toolbar - Tools for text formatting (bold, italic, headings, etc.)
- Content Area - The main area where you edit the article text
- Metadata Fields - Options to edit title, meta description, and other metadata
- SEO Panel - Guidance for optimizing content for search engines
- Media Tools - Options to insert images, videos, or other media
Editing Tools
The editor toolbar includes standard formatting options:
- Text Formatting - Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
- Headings - H1-H6 heading levels
- Lists - Bulleted and numbered lists
- Links - Insert and edit hyperlinks
- Blockquotes - Format text as quotes
- Media - Insert images, videos, or embeds
- Tables - Create and format data tables
- Code Blocks - Format text as code with syntax highlighting
Common Edits and Improvements
When editing your generated articles, consider these common improvements:
Title and Headings
- Make titles more engaging or click-worthy
- Ensure headings follow a logical hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3)
- Add keywords to headings where natural
- Create more descriptive section headings
Content Enhancement
- Add industry-specific insights or expertise
- Include current statistics or data points
- Add relevant case studies or examples
- Expand sections that need more depth
- Remove redundant or repetitive information
SEO Optimization
- Adjust keyword density if too high or too low
- Add internal links to relevant content on your site
- Include external links to authoritative sources
- Optimize meta description
- Add alt text to images

- Break up long paragraphs

Saving Your Edits
After making changes to your article:
- Review your changes for accuracy and completeness
- Click the "Save" or "Save Changes" button
- Your edits will be saved, and you'll return to the article view
Pro Tip: AutopilotSEO automatically saves your work periodically as drafts. If you accidentally navigate away, you may be able to recover your edits from the autosave feature.
Adding Media
Adding Images
To enhance your article with images:
- Place your cursor where you want to insert an image
- Click the image icon in the editor toolbar
- Choose to upload an image or insert from URL
- Select or upload your image
- Add alt text for accessibility and SEO
- Adjust size and alignment as needed
- Click "Insert" to add the image to your article
Adding Videos or Embeds
To add videos or other embedded content:
- Place your cursor where you want to insert the embed
- Click the embed or video icon in the toolbar
- Paste the URL or embed code
- Adjust settings as needed
- Click "Insert" to add to your article
Publishing Edited Articles
After editing your article, you can:
- Save as Draft - Keep the article in draft status for further editing
- Publish - Push the article to a connected platform (WordPress, Webflow, etc.)
- Schedule - Set the article to publish at a future date and time
- Export - Download the edited article for use elsewhere
If the article was already published:
- Edit the article as needed
- Save your changes
- Click "Update" or "Republish" to push your changes to the connected platform
- Confirm the update action

- Focus on Value - Edit to enhance value for readers, not just for SEO
- Maintain Consistency - Ensure your edits maintain a consistent tone and style
- Check Facts - Verify any statistics or claims before publishing
- Preview Before Publishing - Always use the preview function to see how your article will look
